LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Sparks Executive Vice President and general manager Penny Toler today announced the team has signed Tyonna Outland to a 2015 training camp contract.

“Tyonna is an excellent guard who has the ability to play both the one and the two positions,” said Toler.  “She has the ability to score and create open shots for her teammates.  We are excited to bring her to training camp to see what she can do.”

The 5-9 guard out of Cal State University Bakersfield finished her career as CSUB’s all-time leading scorer with over 2,000 points.  A two-time WBCA All-American, she led the Runners to three postseason appearances including the WNIT the past two seasons and one berth in the WBI finals during her freshman year.

As a senior, she led the team in points (19.7 ppg) and was second in rebounds (5.5 rpg), assists (3.2 apg) and minutes (32.3 mpg) through 31 games played as a senior.
During her junior season she became the ninth Bakersfield player to score at least 1,000 points in a career in December and finished the season ranked fourth all-time with 1,467 points.  That season, she led the team in scoring (20.7 ppg) and ranked second in rebounds (6.3 rpg) and assists (2.7 apg) through 31 games played (31 starts). As a sophomore, she ranked second on the team in assists with 52 total and was third in scoring (11.9 ppg) and rebounding (5.1 rpg).  During her freshman season, she was named to the All-WBI Tournament Team, coming off the bench to average 16.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.0 assists in four WBI postseason contests.
